I was out pulling weeds in the front yard and saw this cool looking caterpillar. I've been sort of trying close-up shots in manual mode instead of "macro" mode and have been having some pretty good success of late. Cropped somewhat to get rid of too much greenery. Oh, hand held as well.
Settings were:
50mm, 1/250th, f/8, 200 ISO. (D40 doesn't have an ISO 100 setting.)
