Missed the Still Life contest

I took these the other day to play with my new 105/2.5 AiS lens. These are my first attempts with a manual lens and trying to deal with the manual metering on my D70, but I'd love some feedback. Do you prefer the B/W or the color and what can I do to improve the photo?
