Okay, i'm trying to decided on what lens' to get which is:

Tamron 17-50 f2.8

Sigma 24-70 IF

my question is, is this a good combo or can i get rid of one lens or do i need all 3?? pretty much for landscape, portraits, people lens. i would love to get all 3 but $$$. i currently have 18-200 nikkor and 50mm 1.8. thanks!

Re: Lens Question

Tough one. I have the Tamron and am wanting the Tamron equiv of the 24-70 (28-80 I think) I'm saving for the Tokina 11-16 because it's a 2.8. What do you think your pie chart for use of the trio would look like?

Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 Lovin' it. I could glue it to my camera and be happy.
Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 It's the older model w/o the AF motor and it focuses FAST. It's just like the 17-50, only longer.

Re: Lens Question

I doubt you'd miss the 20-24mm range if you went with the 10-20mm and 24-70.

24-70 is nice on a crop body for general people use.

Re: Lens Question

Your gap would be 20-28 then. look at the exif on your past shots and see how many fall into that range. However, you do already have that covered if you must...with the 18-200. I agree with Fix. That makes sense. Haven't shot with the Tamron 28-75, but have heard that it's equiv. quality to their 17-50.

The Tammy 28-75 is one of the best and rivals the Canon equivalent

Re: Lens Question

I am been debating between the Sigma 24-70 & Tamron 28-75 for a while myself and cannot seem to lean either way! Let me know which way you end up going - maybe it will sway me

If you're referring to the non L Canon, I'd agree. Any L lens, not even close.
