Boom Arm?

Hey I am looking to get a Good Boom Arm for my AB1600... I want to make sure it can support a Beauty Dish and the Flash Unit itself. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated. And also maybe a short Review on what you think of the suggested boom arm, that's if you have any experience with it. Thanks again!

Re: Boom Arm?

Those are a dime a dozen, You can go with the brand name stuff but weight issues are usually solved by a single counter weight that you move up and down the arm.

I have allot of britek equipment, Cant go wrong with them BRITEK DELUXE BOOM SUPPORT WITH STAND SYSTEM , 98.00 - eBay (item 220375429231 end time Nov-04-09 19:02:20 PST)

Re: Boom Arm?

From what I have been reading on POTN, alot of people are suggesting Avenger stuff. But it's a little expensive for my budget right now. I am seeing the main thing is that the light stand needs to have a WIDE foot print, Heavy Duty and perferably steal... So I got a light stand that is made by Click Link ----> Photogenic <---- Click Link... Though it's made by Heavy gauge aluminum, Hopefully that is good enough for a good Boom Arm.

Re: Boom Arm?

I have a Bogen that will extent about 80" from 6' high. I found guy here in town that will sell ott-6 or ott-8 shot. (shotgun shot) and I use about 55# to counter the cantilever effect. It will hold my b800 on a BD with no problem - maybe even Marshall ahhaha. The Shot is about a buck a lb but if you purchase a weight bag at a camera store 15lbs will cost ya $53. You can always buy a cheapie but if it falls on someone or something during a shoot you will regret it.
