Re: 70-200 f/2.8 Lenses

Heads up, lensrentals.com is selling one of their used copies of the Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 AF-S VR for $1,415.00. For any Canon users who might pop by this thread, they're also selling a used copy of the Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS for $1,529.00.

Re: 70-200 f/2.8 Lenses

The lensrentals.com site has a list of the lenses that have the highest repair rate. The Tamron 70-200mm f2.8 has the highest annualized repair rate of 41.5%. Of course their lenses may take a fair amount of abuse due to shipping and rough handling but the failure rate seems to be much much higher than for other lenses.

Re: 70-200 f/2.8 Lenses

i tried the tamron. the focus is too slow.

the sigma focuses faster but it dosent have vibration reduction.

so i use this on my D300.

The is about a $100 or so difference between the two (sigma being the more expensive one) and I am wondering if anyone has any experience with these lenses or suggestions.

Thank you

What are you going to shoot with it? if Sports, VR will not help you stop motion. In that case I would get the 80-200mm afd and use a monopod if needed. Fast focus with d300 and really nice IQ for about $800

Stay away from third party lenses, unless you can test before you buy.
