I want to checkout the Sigma EF 530 DG Super for canon at a local store before i buy it. nelson's and george's dont carry sigma. Calumet is an authorized dealer and they dont have it in stock (special order).

any suggestions on a local place to check out this flash?

No idea on local stores, but you might check out the SD Strobist group on Flickr. I think there are a few guys there using the 530 super. You might be able to meet up with one of them to give it a test run.
