Hey hey
What's up guys?
I've been looking at this site for a while and I've decided to end my voyeuristic ways and join up.
I've lived in SD for 3 years and I currently work as an EMT on an ambulance. If you've seen an ambulance in Chula, you now know which company I work for.
Love my job, love photography, need to pay bills. 'Nuff said.
I've noticed there are a LOT of digital users here. No biggie, to each their own. I'm not the pretentious type that spouts off about how film is superior blah blah blah. It's all about preference and what works with you. If you've read my "name" you probably know which system I'm using. I personally prefer all-manual cameras. I've only been shooting on and off for about a year now. Started in black and white and more or less read all the literature I could find without having to take a class (due to my schooling in other subjects). I don't want to say I'm "self-taught" because there is a ton I still need to learn.
I JUST got into slides and oh my God...I never knew. It was some free expired stuff from '02 but man, the saturation just blew me away. It was so thick and deep you could almost taste it.
Also, if anyone is looking for cheap film, I would highly recommend craigslist. In the last two weeks I spent only $100 and got 90 rolls of 35/120 film.
Anyways, to condense, here's all my equipment (so far). I think the greatest part about the digital age is how CHEAP I'm getting my equipment for! It's starting to offset the price of film (at least in my head).
Bodies:
Canon A-1 w/ motor drive
Canon AE-1
Canon AE-1 Program
Canon T-70
Canonet G-III QL17 (fixed 40mm f1.7)
Canon Elan/EOS 100 (europe)
Holga(!)
Lenses:
FD 28mm
FD 50mm
FD 135mm
FD 35-75mm
Vivitar 70-210mm
EF 28-80mm
(too lazy to get the lenses to tell you the f-stops)
I have a flash as well that I never use.
The AE-1 Program is more or less a Frankenstien of lesser AE-1 Programs. It has developed a shutter squeak that I'm looking to get fixed. It also needs to be CLA'd. Can anyone recommend a shop in the area?
Also, you won't be seeing any of my work until I can get my hands on a scanner.
Be safe,
joe
