Need quick advice
Hello fellow photogs...
Need some quick advice. I was contacted by a magazine interested in a photo I took of the Crazy Horse Memorial they saw on flickr. It's not that great of a photo... just a snap shot.
Anyways, she wants me to send it to her and if they can use it, they will pay me for it. I was talking to a friend of mine (a pro portraiture photog) and he was telling me not to sell the copywrite, do a licensing agreement... on and on. It doesn't feel like that kind of deal to me. It's more laid back... it's for an article they are doing on South Dakota.
I'm a little leary of just sending the picture off. Has anyone else sold to a magazine and how was the deal handled? I know someone on here sold a photo of Lake Powell I think?? If I remember correctly? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I've not been in this situation before and I'm not savvy if you know what I mean. I have heard of the magazine before so that side is legit.
Let me know!! Thanks!
Karyn
